All Hallows Eve

Fairies unite!

We carved our pumpkins the day before. Rhett did the buck tooth pumpkin, I did the middle and Maeryn's which is at the end, I carved it in haste because it was really tough to carve. They quickly disintegrated in 2 days. I've never seen anything decay so fast. It was totally gross.

And Decorated mostly the day of:) Not to much spooky going on but we did play Halloween sounds at night for the trick or treaters. It sounded creepy anyways:)

The enchanted rose fairy who looks like she's ready for some candy:)

Lots of jewel it glue, tweezers and a Leatherman to set the gems. Sometimes I stop myself and ask "why?". But then again I don't really mind, I know she likes her sparkle:)

She's as pretty as a rose. I just want to munch on those cheeks!

I don't know why the pretty little sweet fairy has a rock in her hand and a mischievous look on her face but it makes me laugh.

This makes me laugh too:) Look at those teeth I couldn't deny her candy she might bite me:)

I find these next photo's to be some of my favorites...

Enter the gladiator....(I'm glad I bought this costume for Rhett, "I am gladiator.") I don't know how tough he looks holding that rose.

Funny enough we carted her door to door in her buggy to cover more ground. Maeryn is the slowest walker I know:) She didn't mind being carted around but I told Rhett people might think there's something wrong with her legs. We did let her out for the last couple of houses.

Maeryn enjoyed her sweet loot and so have we:)

Enter Sparkly fairy #2...

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I hope it will be one of Maeryn's too.

After we had gotten back from trick or treating we got ready to give out our candy. We really like to do this but unfortunately in the mix of everything Halloween our toilet overflowed all over the bathroom floor and I found myself running next door to borrow the neighbors plunger, in my costume no less. We couldn't find the plunger for a good 30 minutes, oh and I got to see my 80 year old neighbor in his underwear briefly, no pun intended, I'd have to say it was odd. That aside, we found the elusive plunger and I ran as fast as my fairy feet could take me back to the house. Said plunger didn't work, but glad we had a shop vac. Poor Rhett made his back sore vacuuming all the water off the floor. Since then our toilet has been fixed. They had to gut it and put new parts in. We had a great Halloween overall and now I can think of turkey and stuffing, thankfully it's not as involved:)

Lot's of things to catch up on

Rhett's 32nd Birthday or his 3rd 29th birthday was September 15th:) Happy B-Day old man!

My Dad and brother John came down for a short visit. I probably won't see my brother for another year. He is in the Army now and living at the Fort Bragg Base in North Carolina. We played numerous games of Hearts. That seems to have become a tradition when we get together. I only won once.

Maeryn and her Daddy right before climbing the hay pyramid at Hawes Farms Family Fun Days.

My little sunshine girl always has a smile on her face:)

Living the high life at the top I stayed below to take the pics. Besides I'm extremely clumsy!

Fresh corn on the cobb straight from Hawes' corn field and hand dipped in melted butter. I personally went for the food alone.

Our ride in the old west stage coach. I kept imagining Rhett in one of the double breasted suits from the old west. I told him we should be old westerners for the next Halloween. He can be Doc. Holiday and I'll be his girlfriend "Big Nose Kate". Maeryn can be "Annie Oakley" (who by the way is related to my sister in-law Amy, I can totally see her wielding a shot gun:)).

Maeryn's first pony ride on a tiny white fluff ball of a pony named Snow ball no less:) She loved it! I think I may have to invest in one of the rocking horses they have at Costco right now.

I loved this pic of Maeryn and Rhett on the swings. At this point it was 90 Deg. outside and I was trying to hide under a canopy for shade but I managed to get this pic from my hideout. Oh yeah, Rhett tried to slide down the kiddie slide with Maeryn and hit gravel on the way down. The slide was only made to hold small children not a grown man luckily it popped right back into place:) I laughed my head off!

A desperately needed cool treat. Flavor: Lions Blood. Yum!!

Getting Back Into the Groove of Things

Slacker I am. So this last Month was busy with crazy and not so crazy stuff. August was the worst car month I have ever experienced as a whole. Before we left for our trip to Boise early August(I will revisit this trip on my blog later) I took our VW in to the dealer for it's 60,000 mile check up. Well they found a gas leak that required the whole gas tank to be replaced. Let's see that would have cost us including the cost of the check-up around 3,000 dollars!!!! Yikes! Not what I was expecting when I first brought it in. Non the less VW decided they could pay for some of the major repairs which was a relief. They said they would have the car ready right before we were leaving for Boise but that fell through so we had to rent a car for two weeks!! Arghhh not happy about that new expense. The next car debacle happened a couple weeks ago with my parents Subaru Outback Sport that they have graciously lent us. My Dad had put new tires on it from BIG O Tires in town. Rhett drives this car to work and back and started to hear a funny noise coming from the front left tire area. I told him I would take it in to get it checked. As I was taking the car out of our driveway I heard the noise right away. It got worse as we went. Maeryn was in the car with me and while we were driving on the HWY I put my hazards on because the car started shaking and it sounded like a helicopter was under the car. I was hoping to get to my destination but to no avail. I started to pull to the side of the road and suddenly witnessed my front left tire race across the HWY and then the front left of the car fell to the ground scrapping the rotor on the cement for about 5 or more feet. I felt like I was crash landing an airplane without the proper landing gear. All I could think about was the safety of Maeryn. I landed the car far enough off the HWY and Maeryn was laughing hysterically. She thought mommy was being funny. Anyways, Big O is paying for and fixing all the damages and that's that. I think maybe we need to invest in bikes, the peddling kind:)

We have had some fun recently:) We were able to go on a date night with our friends the Martins. We ate out at Casa Ramos then went walking over the Sundial Bridge. They had live music playing and the evening was perfect. The weather was great and the sunset was beautiful I felt like we were on vacation somewhere. After that we saw 500 Days of Summer which I liked and we got two free movie tickets out of it because the management thought there were to many lines running thru the screen and the speakers crackled on occasion. Score!! It was nice to get out together as a couple, we don't do it often enough without Maeryn.

Sometimes I get bored and need to find something new to do so I had heard of this place called Brandy Creek by Whiskey Town Lake. It's a very scenic swim beach with white sand that is connected by a fresh water river and the lake. The wildlife there were very friendly it was obvious people had been feeding them. A deer and it's fawn came right up to us like friendly dogs looking for a handout. The ducks and Geese were the same way. I was just hoping the bears wouldn't show up:) Maeryn had a blast playing in the water and so did we. Rhett and I were talking about how cool it would be if we could have a cabin somewhere near a lake as our personal retreat. Nothing fancy just a cozy place to relax in. Someday maybe.
I have pictures of our trip but the camera doesn't talk to the computer anymore so I have to go to the store and burn a CD anytime I want to post anything. A real pain another reason why I have skipped out on blogging and anything else that requires photo's. I'm saving money for a nice camera so someday I will be on the ball with the photo posts:)

Maeryn did get sick, really sick for the first time a week ago. She has been sick before with a fever but never throw-up sick. But she was a good little sport about the whole ordeal. Lots of laundry had to be done to say the least. It lasted for about 48 hours and then she was finally all better. After she was better I decided it was time to move her from her crib to the big girl bed. I had bought a rail that can slid between the mattress if I wanted it out of sight. It works great and Maeryn is so loving her new bed. I can tell in her face she enjoys the new upgrade. There was a night where she kept coming out of her room but we told her that she would have to go back to the baby bed if she didn't stay in her big girl bed through the night. So amazing enough it worked:) Fingers crossed.

We went to McCloud yesterday. I've always wanted to check out this historic logging town in the mountains just north of us. It was cute and very small. Smaller than I had thought. The scenery was beautiful and the smell of the pine trees was wonderful.

So that's the long and short of things that have happened lately.
